How many facets?
-
The standard number of facets of a Pear Cut Diamond is 58, but can be cut with
different numbers of pavilion mains of 8, 7, 6 or 4 facets.
What does it look like?
-
A hybrid cut, combining the best of the Round Brilliant and the Marquise, it is
shaped like a sparkling teardrop.
-
A nice Pear Cut is generally one that is well cut with a polished girdle.
-
For a pear-shaped diamond that is pleasing to the eye, look for a
length-to-width ratio between 1.50 and 1.75:1.
What works best for the Pear Cut?
-
For Rings, this cut compliments a hand with small or average length fingers. It
is particularly beautiful for Pendants and Earrings.
-
Colour also shows fairly dramatically in a Pear Cut Diamond.
-
The pear is another popular fancy cut it uses the base of a brilliant or round
cut and extends it self to point , if well proportioned it gives a depth of
scintillation to the point of the stone. A benefit in design if a longer look
is required.
Mostly used in pendants and the drop earrings Pear Shape diamond is shaped in a
tear drop shape and has fairly good proportions to refract light well. Many who
like the look of the round but want a fancy shape alternative choose the
pear-shaped diamond. If you choose a longer pear shape, the length of the
diamond creates a slimming effect on the fingers. When choosing a colour grade,
consider that while the price of a lower colour fancy-shaped diamond is
exceptional, colour may be slightly visible in its corner.
