RADIANT CUT DIAMONDS

The Radiant cut diamond is considered the father of branded fancy cut diamonds with a birth over 20 years ago. It's the first cut to have complete brilliant facet pattern applied to both the crown & pavilion. The same ratio of 1:1.5 will provide the most pleasing shape but the square shape has become very popular recently.

How many facets?

The standard number of facets of a Radiant Shape Diamond is generally 70 facets (25 on the crown, 8 on the girdle & 37 on the pavilion).

What does it look like?

The Radiant Cut Diamond is a straight-edged rectangular or square stone with cut corners. The truncated corners help to minimize chipping.

The radiant cut is a patented name & cut also know as a cut-cornered, rectangular (or square) modified brilliant on GIA grading reports.

Generally if you are looking for a square cut, a Radiant Shape's length to width ratio is approximately 1.0 to 1.1:1. For a more rectangular shape, look for a ratio 1.11 to 1.5:1

What works best for Radiant Cut?

Radiant cuts are principally used for important centre stones, but also for pendants.

Popular before the princess shape was around, the radiant has more facets than a princess, but has the corners trimmed like the emerald shape. This shapes popularity has now been surpassed by that of the Princess shape.

The Radiant can either be cut as a square or rectangle. The Radiant has a strong look with a unique type sparkle, differing from Emerald and Princess Cuts. Trimmed corners are the signature of this fancy-shaped diamond, and they also make the diamond very versatile. A radiant-cut looks equally beautiful set with either baguette or round side-diamonds. When choosing a colour grade, consider that while the price of a lower colour fancy-shaped diamond is exceptional, colour may be slightly visible in its corners.
