Diamond Education
Put simply, there are four universally accepted characteristics that all
diamonds are graded by. They are known as the 4C's, and they are Cut, Colour,
Clarity and Carat weight.
Cut Grade
The only one of the 4C's that is within our control is a diamond's cut. Cut is
the result of a craftsman's skill in transforming a rough diamond into a
breathtaking gem.
Diamond Colour
The most important thing to know about colour when it comes to diamonds is, in
general, the less colour a diamond has, the more valuable it is, all other
factors being equal.
Diamond Clarity
Another vital grading characteristic in diamonds is their clarity. This refers
to the number, position and size of the inclusions that occur naturally inside
diamonds. The fewer and less obvious the inclusions, the more valuable the
diamond.
Carat Weight
A diamond's weight is measured in what is known as a 'carat', which is a small
unit of measurement equal to 200 milligrams. Carat is not a measure of a
diamond's size, since cutting a diamond to different proportions can affect its
weight.

The most popular of all cuts the round brilliant in its Ideal proportions is
designed to give maximum scintillation, beauty and fire. Rounds make up the
vast majority of diamonds found in engagement rings and are popular as stud

with a birth over 20 years ago. Originally protected by patent, the design is
now public domain. It's the first cut to have complete brilliant fact pattern
applied to both the crown & pavilion and as such presents a much more
dazzling & brilliant diamond than the emerald cut.

the is the ultimate symbol of love and a huge hit on Valentines day. Most Heart
Shape Diamonds are nearly round. The heart shape is one of those special cuts

Marquise
Cut Diamonds
The Marquise is a slender striking cut if well proportioned and popular for "up
market" designer pieces. The shape lends it self to being visually bigger with
a bigger table spread for carat weight than traditional cuts.
Oval Cut
Diamonds
The oval cut is also a particularly beautiful shape and if well proportioned
gives great scintillation and fire. A well cut oval diamond can be almost as
bright as a well cut Brilliant or round shaped diamond as the angles for
cutting are closer to that of a brilliant cut diamond.
Pear Shape

The pear shaped brilliant diamond is based upon the traditional configuration
of the round brilliant diamond. More than other fancy shapes, length-to-width
ratio is a matter of taste when it comes to pear shaped diamonds.
